At the auspicious time of this great day, colorful clouds were all over the sky, and the drumbeats resounded throughout the air, and Buddhas and Bodhisattvas were gathering in the Western Shrine. All the divines above in the Space Realm were cheering for this special day, when Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi stretched his golden arm and fired the first shot, and thus began the construction ceremony of the Western Shrine Retreat.

In only five days, the imposing Retreat of the Western Shrine appeared on the Holy Mountain. It is the hope given by Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi for the sentient beings, and the mercy from Five Great Buddhas and Bodhisattvas from Ten Directions for them. Under the lead of Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi, the Saints in the Western Shrine spared no effort day and night for building the Retreat. They sweated blood over every brick and every tile. This precious hard-working spirit of burning the midnight oil also moved the divines above in the Space Realm. So they all came for help; the amazing Mandalas were all over the sky above the construction site in no time.

In one of the mornings during the construction of the Retreat, the sky was covered by dark clouds and it was going to have thunder shower soon. A Preacher Yuan immediately vowed in front of Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi that he would build up a Temple of Dragon King on the Holy Mountain. He sincerely pleaded Master Ziguang Shang Shi to ask for the Dragon King’s favor for not raining at this moment. Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi smiled and chanted a supreme mantra. The dark clouds just vanished immediately, and the sun was shining upon the Western Shrine again. All the saints were shocked by this incredible miracle, and kneeled down to thank for this great favor.

In the afternoon of August 13, 2009, the Western Shrine Retreat was completed with the last tile and the last window, after five successive sunny days. With the vivid music of drum, Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi imparted the Great Dharma of “Inviting the Divines” to the disciples in the Retreat!

The next day was the grand opening day of the Retreat, when the saints of Western Shrine welcomed the first Taiwanese Pilgrimage Group. In the same day, under the lead of merciful Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi, the construction project of Temple of Dragon King on the Holy Mountain has begun. The other projects that are under construction include Western Shrine Thousand-Buddha Hall and God of the Earth Palace. In the future, there will be Birth and Death Hall, Four Faces God (Brahma) Hall and so on…
